Defending ABA Champions, ranked #1 in preseason rankings
Jacksonville, Fla. – Defending ABA champions, Jacksonville Giants, are ranked #1 in the preseason power rankings. The Giants had an exceptional 6th Season with a record of 29-6 for the year. The Final Four series last season put the Giants against rival team, South Florida Gold, who will return for the Season 7 Home Opener.
After a tough battle in the Final Four, the Giants swept the Windy City Groove 92-80 in the National Championship game.
“Being ranked #1 among this caliber of teams means a lot, and it says a lot. Any team listed in the top 25 has a chance to win the championship, so there will be a target on our backs. I sent the power rankings to some of our guys, and they are ready to defend our title. This is the toughest and most talented group of teams I have seen so far in the ABA. The league as a whole is becoming more serious, competitive and driven,” said Head Coach Jerry Williams.
The Jacksonville Giants will begin their season on December 3rd, 2016 at the Veterans Memorial Arena. The season home opener will include a National Championship Ring Ceremony and the official kickoff to the American Basketball Association’s 50th Anniversary.
